Lakshwadeep - A coral Paradise

Image
A coral paradise PC: Shruti It has been a month and the scenes of that paradise continue to flash infront of my eyes. Funny how passport issues made us change our destination from Maldives to Lakshwadeep – unplanned surprises indeed take form of beautiful journey. Getting travel/accommodation information kept us thinking as it was all controlled by SPORTS authority. Sending back and forth mails to them deciding the itinerary and the cost of package led us to a page of travel agents listed on SPORTS site which was way more easy mode of communication thanks to their correct contact number and we got lucky. Note: Contact numbers and recommended name of agent provided at the end. Planned Itinerary: Cost quoted excluding excursions: 87000 Rs/2 people   for 7 nights (Food & accommodation included) Landing in Agatti – 3N stay at Kadmath – 4N stay at Thinnakara (with a day trip to Bangaram and Parali) However when it comes to me and my tr

Benefits of using Natural ingredients for Hair care : Reetha, Shikakai & Amla

The great thing about Ayurveda is that its treatments always yield benefits not side effects - Shubhra Krishnan Keeping up with the fast paced life has left us with very little time in hand where we expect science and research to show its magic by putting in as less efforts as possible. We are very much aware about the side effects of chemical ridden products when used or consumed -still use it- to be realized later in our lives when the harmful products manifests it self in different ways. Hair care is one area which most citizens are obsessed about and end up spending exorbitant amount to make sure they do every thing possible to save their hair from the wrath of the chemicals. Ever thought about using natural ingredients which are inexpensive yet filled with goodness of vitamins, absolutely chemical free and also proven by our Asian ancestors and Ayurveda. Meghalaya : Offbeat places

Image
One touch of   nature   makes the whole world kin. William Shakespeare. Land of clouds/fog/rains call it whatever – its different, very indigenous. The itinerary I followed was Guwahati-Shillong-Cherapunjee(Sohra)-Mulynong –Dawki-Kaziranga national park-Guwahati. It was a 7D/6N trip, however I reckon it could be done in 5-6 days. The plan was to hit as many offbeat places as possible however our driver was very reluctant & hence we managed to discover only one offbeat location. The beauty of Meghalaya is in the journey and not the destination. The nuance in the landscape and terrain is inordinately resplendent. The thing that matters: Money factor : 20000 Rs max Accommodation for 2 persons: Guwahati – Airbnb 700Rs/night Shillong – Airbnb 841 Rs/night Sohra – Wet land lodge 1500 Rs/night Dawki – hotel 800-1500 Rs/night Kaziranga – oyo 1200-1500 Rs/night Guwahati – oyo 800- 1000 Rs/night (in paltan bazaar – in the middle of the city)

Big Fat Wedding = Big Fat Nothing. Is It?

Image
They say marriages are made in heaven, well then why is it necessary to prove it to hundreds of witnesses. Indian marriages are nothing less compared to Award shows, just that only 2 families are gonna take care of the cost of all the guests till the event ends. This beautiful ceremony has turned into business for many people. The heart aches to see entire life savings being spent for this one event to please OTHER people. A fact – Weddings/reception are for the guests to enjoy while the couple (for whom it is arranged) become “madam tussauds wax statues” who just solve the purpose of getting the pictures right. After interacting with many family members who have hosted the weddings for their dear ones, my conclusion is – IT IS TOUGH – to host it – to please hundreds of guests – to make sure everything runs smoothly – to run million errands to ensure the guests don’t get disappointed with the arrangements – Aren’t we forgetting something – what about the couple? – well, they

Say No to Phones on Pot

Image
Yesss you have also done it lol!!!  It has been long and I want to give up the habit of taking my phone to bathroom every time I enter. To the contrary, I end up looking for my phone every time I am about to go to the loo. I realized that I spend more time on the pot than on finishing my breakfast. It must be a similar scenario with most of you. The world has gone from this : To being this: That’s when I googled about the “reasons for not carrying phones in loo”   - absurd – because I was in the washroom then. People who really care about hygiene and freak out when they hear the words ‘germs’ & ‘contamination’ should have a look at this. Carrying phone to toilets makes washing hands worthless! When you stay on the toilet for upwards of 20, 30, 40 minutes, you're putting unnecessary pressure on the rectum, [which] can cause hemorrhoids, and definitely make any pre-existing hemorrhoids way worse Chances of bacteria breeding are higher on you
