Are you a Responsible Traveler???

My First Blog!

To begin with this would be my inaugural blog on blogger. So let me tell you a little about myself - that I am on an experiment of discovering a new side of myself i.e exploring a thing called “Travelling” – Something I wished to do way back but could not.

Recently I went on an expedition to visit a beautiful place with my childhood friends. I visited Andaman. One thing I learnt from my previous travel experience is the "company" while travelling is very important. We were amazed to witness aesthetic beauty of nature while covering 3 islands in Andaman.

While we had 5 days to roam around Port Blair before proceeding to Havelock, we decided to visit Corbyns cove beach all the 4 days for some    reason. Interestingly,we were supposed to come back to the same place after 7 days before concluding our trip.

There was some sort of wildness in the waves of the sea at Corbyns cove and the tourist(a few of them were there) seemed to love it. The beach was clean and the waves were  crashing at the shore ferociously. The sight was pretty  as a picture. Most of the people who had come with families and friends took   pride in having a good time over there. They seemed to own the sand(area) they were sitting on – declaring that it was their   territory – having their own small picnic time.

A week later we were excited to be back to visit the same beach before we bid adieu to Andaman. Devastated to see the plight of the beach we were wondering, how can someone be so ignorant? Filled with plastic waste the sight of a picturesque beach had transformed into land used to dispose of waste. Heavy rains accompanied by violent waves –as if-were depicting their rage against the action of humans.

Recent news reported that a Sperm Whale was found dead with 13 pounds of plastic in its stomach. The animal had swallowed plastic bags, bottles, flip-flops & 115 drinking cups. A very saddening fact that it (may) have been murdered by another species living on earth – Mankind.
Suddenly a thought crossed my mind “The innocent families – the smiling faces – who had come down here to enjoy and take a break from their lives didn’t even realize that they are responsible for the lifeless creatures of the sea – they were becoming silent killers of nature.” Are people paying the vendors (to buy eatables or) to mark the end of nature? Is tourism industry a boon for the locals living over there or a death to entire mankind and aquatic species?

Humongous amount of money is being spent on the education of children these days- all in vain if people can’t set an example for their kids through small simple gestures towards Mother Nature. What kind of future are we building for our future generation by putting their future in jeopardy? It takes just a realization and an effort to dispose of waste at the right place. It’s the duty and responsibility of every person to make sure he doesn’t leave back any trash behind while vacating the same place which they marked as their territory on the beach. Take pride in being responsible to keep the beauty of the nature intact. Always remember what nature has given us and now its time to give back to the nature.
